About the role
As Regulation and Sustainability Analyst, you’ll play an important role in supporting the development of our regulatory strategy and helping to coordinate activity across regulatory and market frameworks in England and Scotland. You’ll carry out background research, support the drafting of consultation responses and maintain our horizon scanning tracker to make sure key consultations, market developments and regulatory activities are progressed.
You’ll also help provide insight and guidance to the business on regulatory obligations, market changes and emerging sustainability requirements. Working closely with the Head of Regulation and Sustainability, you’ll support the delivery of Business Stream’s sustainability strategy, helping us build on the progress we’ve made since launching our sustainability-led vision, Make a Positive Difference, in 2019. This will include tracking sustainability trends, supporting internal and external reporting, and helping to drive forward partnership commitments and social value activity.
About you
We’re looking for someone with experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within utilities or another regulated sector. You’ll bring strong regulatory knowledge, excellent written skills and the ability to turn complex information into clear reports, briefings and consultation responses.
You’ll be confident managing competing priorities, coordinating activity across stakeholders and working at pace with strong attention to detail. You’ll also be collaborative, comfortable communicating with senior colleagues and able to support governance, sustainability reporting and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
