Our Regulation, Strategy and Planning Directorate plays a central role in shaping and delivering the transmission infrastructure required across the North of Scotland. As part of this strategic team, you will provide expert advice to the SSEN Transmission Board and Executive Committee on a range of internal and external factors impacting regulatory strategy, programme delivery, and overall business performance.

You will lead cross-functional teams and foster strong collaboration to help shape the external regulatory policy environment, and to develop regulatory strategies to secure future business growth opportunities. This role will support critical outcomes including the UK Government’s Mission Control ambition to deliver clean power by 2030.

This role includes responsibility for leading and managing areas of regulatory policy, including for future price controls, and safeguarding the value of our future investment pipeline by shaping policy outcomes to align with our long-term strategy. You will be at the forefront of shaping, negotiating, and delivering the regulatory landscape and securing approvals within it through close engagement with Ofgem and other key stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to use logical and analytical reasoning to identify problems, determine causes, propose and implement solutions within the context of the SSEN Transmissions strategic ambitions and the external environment.
