JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Regulatory Advisor

Location: Remote (flexibility to meet in East Yorkshire on an ad-hoc basis required)

Salary: £28,000 – 40,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Working Pattern: Full-time (40 hours per week)

We provide UK and EU regulatory services to clients, ranging from start-up businesses through to established businesses. We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Regulatory Advisor to join our team to support our growth journey.

Job Overview

As a Regulatory Advisor, you will work closely with the founder to ensure compliance of cosmetic products, claims, websites and marketing copy for both national and international clients. This position is ideal for candidates with some experience in regulatory affairs or for seasoned professionals looking to rebalance their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review cosmetic product formulations for suitability for the UK and EU markets, ensuring compliance against all applicable regulations, standards and codes.
  • Prepare, author, audit and maintain accurate and up-to-date Product Information Files.
  • Review cosmetic product packaging artworks for compliance against UK and EU market requirements.
  • Prepare and submit UK and EU cosmetic product notifications.
  • Review publications, scientific information, and clinical trial data to substantiate product and marketing claims.
  • Review website, social media and marketing materials for compliance against relevant regulations, standards and codes.
  • Arrange product analysis on behalf of clients with third-party vendors.
  • Review and interpret test reports, scientific analysis and draw logical conclusions.
  • Horizon scan for changes in applicable and relevant laws to ensure up-to-date industry knowledge.
  • Effectively and proactively manage projects and complete works within project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, files and records.
  • Be prepared to undertake continuous professional development training as required by business needs.

Qualification Requirements

Due to the nature of our work, preference will be given to individuals with a University-level qualification:

  • BSc degree in chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical science, biomedical science or similar disciplines.
  • Candidates with a degree in law or similar will be considered, provided they are willing to undertake training in cosmetic science. Candidates who meet this criterion should have a strong interest in chemistry and the life sciences.
  • A Masters-level degree in chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical science, biomedical science or similar disciplines preferred.

Experience Requirements

This is a role that would be well suited to a person with some experience in the cosmetic industry, or a seasoned professional looking to rebalance their responsibilities.

Skill and Attribute Requirements

We’re searching for an energetic, detail-orientated and quality-focused individual.

  • A strong interest in regulatory affairs.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, willing to learn and adapt at pace.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to work remotely as part of a ‘digital’ team.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Copilot, Google Workspace, and willing to learn and use SaaS tools.
  • Expertise with applicable UK and EU regulations impacting the cosmetic industry required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who also have experience with either USA, CAN or AUS cosmetic regulations.
