About BKL

BKL is a Top 40 accountancy and advisory business supporting a diverse client base, from entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals to ambitious owner-managed businesses and multinational groups. With a legacy spanning over 130 years, we’ve evolved into a modern, purpose-driven business that balances profit with impact.

We are proud to be a certified B Corp, reflecting our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and responsible governance. As a member of DFK International, we support clients locally and internationally with cutting-edge expertise and a personal touch.

We believe all clients deserve the same level of care, innovation, and excellence.

Your Opportunity

In this role as Senior Manager, you will be responsible for helping shape BKL's growing financial services proposition, leading work with FCA-regulated businesses across regulatory advisory, statutory audit and client assets. You will combine strong technical leadership with commercial judgement, helping clients navigate complex requirements while protecting advisory and audit quality, independence and professional scepticism. You will lead a varied portfolio, build strong senior client relationships, develop the team and influence BKL's approach to regulatory advisory services, CASS assurance and the wider financial services market.

How You’ll Make a Difference

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a portfolio of regulatory assignments, taking overall responsibility for quality, delivery, profitability and client experience.
  • Set the engagement strategy and ensure work responds appropriately to each client’s business model, regulated activities, permissions, governance, systems and control environment.
  • Provide direction on complex financial reporting, audit and regulatory matters, challenging judgements and ensuring conclusions are robust and clearly documented.
  • Oversee work relating to regulatory returns, capital and liquidity information, client money or custody arrangements where relevant, and associated governance and controls.
  • Ensure relevant FCA Handbook, regulatory requirements, applicable auditing and assurance standards, ethical requirements and BKL methodology are applied consistently.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships while maintaining independence, objectivity and constructive challenge.
  • Identify significant breaches, control weaknesses and potential reportable matters, ensuring timely consultation and escalation to the Responsible Individual or Partner.
  • Hold engagement teams accountable for resourcing, milestones, budgets, WIP, billing and recovery.
  • Review and develop managers and seniors, setting clear expectations, providing high-quality feedback and strengthening succession.
  • Lead portfolio planning and resolve competing priorities, intervening early where quality or delivery is at risk.
  • Contribute to proposals, pitches, tender activity, market insight and the development of new client relationships.
  • Shape regulatory advisory and financial services methodologies, templates, training and quality improvement activity.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments and translate them into implications for clients, engagements and BKL’s service offering.
  • Collaborate across Audit, Tax, Advisory and Risk to provide joined-up support to regulated clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
