Base Location

You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of SSEN Distribution's office locations in Scotland or the south of England.

Salary

SS06 £45,452 - £54,311 depending on skills and experience + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Regulatory Assurance Analyst, you’ll help protect SSEN Distribution’s regulatory compliance by delivering robust assurance against Electricity Distribution Standard Licence Condition 45 – Data Assurance Requirements. You’ll work across the business to review submission methodologies and procedures, ensure regulatory obligations are effectively embedded, and carry out proportionate assurance activities that reduce the risk of licence breaches.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

  • Undertaking assurance activities related to your assigned regulatory submissions - engaging with submission authors and accountable managers, ensuring submissions plans and timelines are robust and fit for purpose; and, that the final submissions are complete and accurate.
  • Completing assigned Process, Data, and Underlying Activity audits each year, as required by the Data Assurance Guidance (DAG), providing stakeholders with high-quality reports, with clear findings, and making recommendations on how processes can be improved to deliver a higher level of confidence in the data they are providing to the regulator.
  • Ensuring the continued maintenance and update of the Regulatory Assurance database, for all assigned submissions, as detailed within our internal procedures, including (but not limited to) the completion of: submission assurance plans; allocated tasks; retention of records in correct files; correct recording of submission risk scores.
  • Assisting with completion of the annual programme of risk assessments for the regulatory submissions for the upcoming reporting year.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • An understanding of audit techniques/ability to undertake audits (not essential as training can be provide).
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills; with the ability to adapt across all levels of seniority.
  • A clear understanding of the electricity industry’s regulatory framework with the ability to interpret or decipher industry regulations.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to balance a varied and challenging workload in order to prioritise and deliver within deadlines.
  • Proficiency in translating business requirements into meaningful data insights, presenting information clearly and simply to support informed decision-making across the business.
  • A strong attention to detail and confidence using a range of IT systems and software packages, including SharePoint, Power BI, Workiva and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • A good understanding of how controls and assurance outcomes influence the wider business, bringing a proactive, forward-looking perspective.
