How You'll Make an Impact
As a Regulatory Chemical Compliance (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India) Student Placement, you will join Lubrizol's Product Safety and Compliance Department (PSCD) supporting the EMEAI region. This placement provides a unique opportunity to apply your scientific knowledge in a real-world regulatory environment while gaining exposure to the operations of a global specialty chemicals business. The role is office-based at Hazelwood and offers hands-on experience that bridges scientific education with the practical requirements of regulatory affairs within the chemical industry.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage projects aligned with Lubrizol's legal obligations, including compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations for current and developing chemical products.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of project data and documentation in line with internal performance metrics and external customer expectations.
- Support daily regulatory operations across the region, including product regulatory reviews and data management through SAP.
- Participate actively in cross-functional meetings across PSCD and wider company teams to support collaboration, knowledge sharing, and problem solving.
- Develop and present technical posters for the Hazelwood Innovation Symposium and deliver presentations at joint research and development technical talks.
- Engage closely with a team of regulatory specialists, gaining experience in a niche scientific discipline aligned with business operations.
- Collaborate with global colleagues across multiple time zones to manage compliance projects and operational activities effectively.
- Build productive relationships beyond PSCD, partnering with other business units to support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- Currently studying a science-related degree that includes a year in industry, with a predicted 2:1 degree classification or above.
- Hold a minimum grade C or above in A-Level, or equivalent, Mathematics or a Science subject.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a dynamic office-based team environment.
- Possess strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities independently and collaboratively within a global team.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and a results-driven approach.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Be proficient in relational databases and commonly used business software, including Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrate experience in capturing, interpreting, and managing data.

Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward
- Degree studies in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Chemistry A-Level or equivalent qualification.
- Interest in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, and chemical compliance within a global business environment.
- Desire to develop expertise within a specialist scientific discipline that supports commercial operations.
Your Work Environment
At Lubrizol, you'll be part of a collaborative office-based team within the Product Safety and Compliance Department, working alongside experienced regulatory professionals supporting the Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India regions. During the placement, you will gain extensive hands-on experience in regulatory compliance and chemical health and safety legislation across global markets, particularly within Europe and the EMEAI region. You will become proficient in industry-specific systems such as SAP and gain insight into how multinational supply chains operate within a regulated chemical environment.
This placement offers a valuable perspective on a technical scientific career path outside traditional laboratory research, enabling you to develop both regulatory expertise and commercial understanding.
