Regulatory Compliance Officer
The University of Manchester is the largest single site university in the UK and one of the top universities in the world with over 10,000 staff and 50,000 students. We are seeking to recruit a full-time Regulatory Compliance Officer who will work closely with and support the Head of Research Security and Compliance in delivering a service to facilitate cutting-edge research activity, within the envelope of national and international export controls and other regulatory areas. This is a complex area of international regulation and requires the ability to assimilate, understand and translate those regulations to a range of audiences. More importantly perhaps, is the ability to engage, support and work effectively with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds, working in such areas as advanced materials, aerospace biology and nuclear. The postholder will be expected to compile and submit applications through the government portals and liaise with the different government departments on an as required basis.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Research Security and Compliance in delivering a service to facilitate cutting-edge research activity.
- Work within the envelope of national and international export controls and other regulatory areas.
- Assimilate, understand, and translate international regulations to a range of audiences.
- Engage, support, and work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Compile and submit applications through government portals.
- Liaise with different government departments as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of academic research environments.
- Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Awareness of legislation and regulations associated with research activities.
- Awareness of regulations associated with trade compliance and governance issues.
- Experience in briefing senior managers and reporting to senior staff/committees.
