Regulatory Compliance SME | European Energy Markets | Remote (UK/Europe) | £500 - £800 Day Rate | Contract

A specialist RegTech consultancy operating in European wholesale energy markets is looking for a Senior REMIT Compliance Contractor. With REMIT II significantly raising the compliance bar across Europe, they are supporting energy trading clients through assessments, action plans, and implementation.

This is a 6-month initial contract, remote-first across the UK and Europe, with a meaningful equity opportunity for the right person over time.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assess client compliance arrangements against REMIT II obligations and translate findings into clear, prioritised action plans.
  • Support implementation across REMIT compliance domains - regulatory reporting, market conduct, trade surveillance, and monitoring obligations.
  • Draft and review compliance policies, procedures, and guidance to a standard ready for client governance and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Run working sessions with compliance, legal, and Front Office stakeholders at client firms across Europe.
  • Advise on trade surveillance arrangements and contribute regulatory expertise to the platform's detection logic and typology coverage.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For

  • Senior regulatory compliance practitioner with genuine depth in REMIT, gained inside or advising European energy trading firms.
  • Energy trading background is essential - you must understand how wholesale Power, Gas, and LNG markets operate in practice, not just in regulation.
  • Strong trade surveillance experience carries particular weight - understanding how manipulation actually occurs and how to detect it.
  • Deep familiarity with how ACER and national regulators apply the rules in practice, beyond the text of the legislation.
  • Client-ready communication skills - able to run sessions unsupervised and write to a standard fit for client governance and regulatory audiences.
  • Generalist REMIT range across reporting, market conduct, inside information, and PPATs.

Why This Role?

  • £500 - £800 per day contract rate, reviewed on application.
  • Equity opportunity - the potential to build a meaningful stake in a fast-growing RegTech business over time.
  • Work at the forefront of energy market surveillance technology, shaping how the platform detects manipulation across physical and financial books.
  • Remote-first working across UK and Europe with periodic client-facing travel.
  • Join a founding team with 20 years of surveillance experience backed by PhD-level machine learning - a serious business solving a genuine market problem.
