Regulatory Officer | High-Growth FMCG Business

📍Location & Package:

  • Salary: Circa ÂŁ55,000 annual salary + up to 20% bonus
  • Location: London
  • Working pattern: 3 days a week in office, 2 days working from home

Please note you must have FMCG experience to apply for this role or your application will not be considered

A rapidly growing, sustainability-led consumer products business is looking for a pragmatic and commercially-minded Regulatory Officer to take ownership of regulatory compliance across an expanding product portfolio in the UK and US.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth business at a pivotal stage of its journey, where new products are launching regularly and international expansion is creating increasingly complex regulatory requirements.

You’ll sit within the Product function and work closely with Formulation, Product Development, Packaging, Brand and Commercial teams — acting as the regulatory expert who identifies risks early, provides practical solutions and keeps products moving towards launch.

đŸ§Ș What you'll be doing

You’ll own the regulatory workstream from early formulation through to launch and ongoing product lifecycle management, including:

  • Advising on Detergents Regulation, CLP and BPR requirements across new and existing formulations.
  • Assessing raw materials and fragrance compositions against UK REACH, TSCA, restricted substances, allergen and IFRA requirements.
  • Reviewing formulations for classification and labelling implications and working with formulators to find compliant alternatives where required.
  • Owning hazard classification, on-pack regulatory labelling and artwork sign-off.
  • Authoring and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) across the product portfolio.
  • Managing poison centre notifications and UFI generation.
  • Maintaining technical files and ingredient documentation to a standard suitable for audits, retailers and regulatory enquiries.
  • Advising on dangerous goods classification and transport requirements.
  • Supporting UK and US market access, including state-level US requirements and product disclosure obligations.
  • Identifying when product claims could trigger additional regulatory requirements, including US pesticide/FIFRA considerations.
  • Advising the business on claims substantiation, ensuring marketing and product claims are supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Reviewing marketing, website, social and influencer content for regulatory and advertising compliance.
  • Supporting environmental and sustainability claims in line with evolving UK requirements.
  • Owning product safety and consumer testing programmes, working with external laboratories and specialists.
  • Keeping the business ahead of regulatory changes, translating new requirements into clear, practical actions.
  • Supporting quality incidents, consumer complaints, adverse reactions and any associated reporting or recall requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

đŸŒ± Why this role is different

This isn't a role where you'll simply sit behind a compliance checklist.

  • You'll be expected to spot problems early, explain what they mean commercially and recommend a way forward.
  • The ideal person will be comfortable telling a formulator why something won't work from a regulatory perspective, but importantly, will also be able to suggest a practical alternative.
  • You'll have genuine visibility across the product lifecycle and the opportunity to influence decisions before significant time and money has been invested.
  • The business is growing quickly, expanding internationally and developing an increasingly broad portfolio, so there is plenty of scope for this role to evolve with the organisation.
