We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading national law firm for a Regulatory Solicitor to join a highly regarded Regulatory team in Birmingham.

The team advises a diverse range of healthcare organisations and professionals on complex, often high-profile regulatory matters.

The role is predominantly advocacy-focused, with regular attendance at court and inquests. You will advise clients, prepare cases for hearing and represent clients throughout the inquest process, working across a varied client base including emergency services, insurers, healthcare organisations and other corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients and prepare inquest cases for court.
  • Prepare written submissions and advice on relevant areas of law.
  • Attend inquests and undertake advocacy on behalf of clients.
  • Manage a varied caseload from instruction through to conclusion.
  • Deal with post-inquest matters, including Prevention of Future Deaths reports.
  • Attend administrative applications and court hearings, including accompanying counsel where required.
  • Manage deadlines, quality standards, KPIs and chargeable targets.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

About You

This is an excellent opportunity for a 3+ PQE solicitor, solicitor-advocate or barrister with previous inquest experience and a genuine interest in regulatory and advocacy work.

  • Previous inquest experience.
  • A genuine interest in regulatory and advocacy work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • The confidence and willingness to develop your advocacy skills.
  • The ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively to deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and strong client-management skills.
  • Criminal defence experience and/or wider regulatory defence experience would be advantageous.
