Role Description
The Regulatory & Sustainability Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in either Hainault (Essex) or Chesterfield. This position is responsible for monitoring and interpreting relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring company products and processes comply with national and international standards, particularly in coatings and related markets.

The specialist prepares and maintains documentation, safety data sheets, and compliance reports, and supports internal audits and external submissions. They collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams to integrate sustainability considerations into product development and lifecycle management, including environmental impact, resource efficiency, and responsible sourcing.
The role will cover areas including REACH, CLP, RoHS, IMDS, PPAP, UFI/Poison Centre notifications, SDS and labelling, together with raw-material registration, COSHH assessments and chemical safety information. The successful candidate will also support Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reporting, EcoVadis, CDP, customer sustainability questionnaires and compliance KPIs.
Daily activities include tracking regulatory changes, conducting impact assessments, advising stakeholders, communicating regulatory updates, and supporting customer inquiries regarding compliance and sustainability.

Qualifications
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent relevant background in chemistry, chemical sciences or a closely related discipline.
- Practical experience in chemicals, coatings, manufacturing or another regulated industry.
- Working knowledge of UK/EU REACH and CLP, with experience interpreting chemical safety information and/or SDS.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines.
- Good Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of IMDS, PPAP, Poison Centre notifications/UFI, RoHS, SDS preparation, hazard classification, sustainability or carbon reporting, CDP, EcoVadis, product stewardship, conflict minerals, transport regulations or Product Vision.
