The Role
You will require to work as part of a team responsible for the modification, delivery and repair of wheelchairs within the West of Scotland. You must possess a HND in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent with three years relevant experience. You will have a minimum of three years post qualification experience within an engineering environment and should have a good knowledge of engineering practices and materials. Knowledge of wheelchair repairs would be advantageous.
You must have practical workshop skills including the use of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment as you will ultimately be responsible for complex mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis, as well as repairs and configuration activities of manual and power wheelchairs. You will be required to hold a full driving licence. Good time management, problem solving and communication skills are essential. Previous mentoring/training of others in an engineering environment is also desirable.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is a permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week. The role is based at WestMARC, Yoker G134DJ. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 8.304.30.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
- Professional mechanical and electrical knowledge to degree equivalent level acquired through BEng in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or HND + short courses or equivalent training and experience.
- Highly-developed specialist knowledge and expertise acquired through short theoretical courses, manufactures training and relevant practical experience in a broad range of equipment and techniques.
- Experience of working in a highly-skilled technical post.
- High Level of IT literacy.
- Ability to use PC-based programming and diagnostic systems and computer-aided software packages.
- Driving Licence and in-depth knowledge of highway code.
- Good Communication skills and able to work on own initiative.

Desirable
- Wheelchair and product knowledge including powered wheelchair control systems.
- Specialist knowledge of wheelchair configurations for patient functioning, e.g. wheelchair propulsion and controls.
