NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

A Band 6 Physiotherapist opportunity has arisen within the Rapid Assessment Link (RAL) service, part of the East Dunbartonshire Community Rehabilitation Team. The service delivers integrated assessment and rapid response interventions aimed at preventing avoidable hospital admissions, supporting timely hospital discharge, and providing rehabilitation and reablement within the community. The team responds to referrals from GP Rapid Response, the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), Front Door services, and supports the Hospital at Home Team across East Dunbartonshire.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Permanent, full-time, 36 hours per week
  • Shift pattern - 5 over 7 days
  • Base location - Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake specialist multidisciplinary assessments for adults with complex needs.
  • Provide Physiotherapy assessment, treatment, review, and rehabilitation interventions.
  • Coordinate client care and support planned discharge pathways.
  • Work at the interface of acute and primary care services to facilitate early discharge and prevent avoidable hospital admissions.
  • Respond to direct referrals received by the Rapid Assessment Link service.
  • Support the delivery of care within the Hospital at Home Team.
  • Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate Physiotherapy services as part of the wider Rehabilitation Service.
  • Liaise with acute hospital services and Hospital at Home teams to ensure seamless patient care and effective discharge planning.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy, or equivalent qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Extensive post-graduate Physiotherapy experience.
  • Demonstrable clinical expertise across a broad range of Physiotherapy practice areas.
  • Experience working within community and acute care settings is desirable.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning, and case management skills.
