The International Contracts Leader
The International Contracts Leader at our client drives contracts strategy and governance for the UK P&C and Europe portfolios. This senior-level position requires a strong technical background in reinsurance contract drafting and interpretation, combined with operational leadership skills. The role plays a crucial part in maintaining contract quality, developing standards, and guiding a matrixed team to deliver compliant, high-quality documentation.

Role Overview
The role works closely with the UK Property & Casualty team, as well as global counterparts. Initially, it functions as a standalone, senior-level position with potential future management responsibilities. The successful candidate will oversee treaty and facultative contract documentation, provide technical advice, and support process modernisation initiatives. Success relies on stakeholder management, contractual expertise, and strong leadership within a hybrid working environment.
Key Skills & Experience
- Demonstrate technical capability in reinsurance contract drafting and interpretation supporting treaty wordings.
- Support in analysing complex contractual issues and produce clear legal guidance for brokers, underwriters, and clients.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of reinsurance concepts across proportional and non-proportional treaty structures.
- Use excellent written and verbal communication skills when engaging senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel & PowerPoint) and familiarity with contract drafting platforms or clause libraries.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; legal qualifications, CII, or insurance-related professional qualifications are highly desirable.

Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Based in London with regional responsibilities across UK and Europe.
- Experience supporting treaty wordings and negotiating outcomes.
