Reinsurance Placement Manager London | Competitive + bonus

Ask ten reinsurance buyers what their book looks like, and nine will describe the same thing they described last year — one portfolio, one panel, one renewal cycle they could recite in their sleep.

That's the job for most senior buyers: steward the panel, defend last year's structure, keep finance quiet at renewal.

You know exactly where the quota share is bleeding ceded commission; it shouldn't.

Exactly which layers are priced for a book that doesn't look like that anymore. Knowing isn't the same as deciding, and in most seats, you never get to decide.

Here, you would — repeatedly, on a different book each time.

This is a growing specialty insurer that provides capacity to a panel of MGAs across commercial and specialty lines and structures reinsurance around each individual partnership rather than running one static treaty.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Every new MGA that joins the panel needs its own reinsurance design — its own capacity, its own structure — built before a single policy is written.

You'd be the one doing that design work, placing and negotiating quota share, XL and the full proportional/non-proportional toolkit across a book that's genuinely different in shape every time a new partner comes on.

You'll build and run your own relationships with an international reinsurer and broker panel, prepare and present your own submissions, and sit close enough to underwriting and senior leadership that your view on structure and capacity actually shapes which MGA partnerships get taken on in the first place — not just how they get reinsured once they're already in.

Renewal season is still renewal season, and onboarding a new MGA fast enough to hit their launch date isn't always glamorous either.

But the other eleven months, you're building something different, not maintaining the same thing.

You're probably right for this if you've built your career in the London reinsurance placement space for a carrier or even brokerage, with the required black book of reinsurer relationships required for a placement role.

Time specifically around MGAs, delegated authority, or fronting arrangements is a strong plus here.

If that sounds like the kind of variety you're after — hit apply or email. Stuart McKenna, stuart.mckenna@idexconsulting.com.
