Reinsurance Pricing Analyst

Location: London

Contract Type: Permanent

Work Pattern: Full Time and Hybrid

The Reinsurance Pricing Analyst role will be part of a team of seven (and wider Pricing team of twenty-six), providing coverage for Reinsurance businesses across Property, Casualty and Specialty lines. The successful candidate will report to the Reinsurance Pricing Actuary and will also be responsible for supporting on other cross-class Pricing deliverables where required.

What you’ll spend your time doing:

As a Reinsurance Pricing Analyst, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting Underwriting with data-driven insights. While no two days are alike, here’s a snapshot of some key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with underwriters to assess risk and optimise pricing strategies in line with syndicate profitability targets.
  • Produce clear, data-driven pricing recommendations and present findings to senior stakeholders by carrying out large account case pricing.
  • Support the change and continuous improvements across the pricing team, ensuring that processes, models, and strategies evolve to meet business needs and industry best practices.
  • Support the Pricing team on other cross-class activities such as running the quarterly Pricing KPIs and annual inflation reviews.
  • Analyse and interpret both external and internal data to create robust pricing models that support business objectives and improve underwriting profitability.
  • Work with Pricing management and other actuarial colleagues to provide critical insights in Pricing Portfolio Reviews, offering independent opinions on the quality of risks written to optimise portfolio profitability.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the other members of the Pricing team, Underwriters, and all departments reporting to the Chief Actuary.
  • Support Pricing management with the accuracy, development, and utilisation of management information for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams such as Exposure Management, Portfolio Management, and IT in Pricing Model Development when required.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives that streamline pricing workflows and enhance analytical efficiency across the team.
  • Continue to work towards full actuarial qualification.

What you’ll need:

For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:

Core skills:

  • Being an undergraduate in maths, economics or actuarial science, or other numerate discipline.
  • Working towards an actuarial qualification.
  • Experience in Pricing, Reinsurance or Insurance classes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Proven ability to work with complex data, statistical analysis, and actuarial modelling.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in SQL and VBA programming languages.

Advantageous skills:

  • Previous pricing experience in the London market.
  • A talent to think laterally in order to develop solutions to support the continued improvement of services by the Technical Pricing team.
  • Experience interpreting CAT modelling outputs.
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and deliver outcomes aligned with the team plan.
