If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the UK TMT, Healthcare and Education Corporate banking team in the role of Relationship Director.

You’ll work closely with a diverse portfolio of customers, understanding their goals and challenges, and providing the insight, support and solutions needed to help them succeed. You’ll be a trusted adviser and influential partner to a portfolio of customers with annual turnovers ranging from £15m to £350m. You will drive exceptional customer experiences, building long-term relationships with existing clients while identifying and developing new business opportunities. Managing a portfolio of UK and international clients, you will oversee the full relationship lifecycle, balancing customer growth opportunities with effective risk management. You'll thrive by developing trusted, collaborative relationships across a wide network of internal and external stakeholders.

In this role you’ll:

  • Focus on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
  • Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
  • Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards.
  • Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
  • Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community.
  • Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime and regulatory risk.
  • Collaborate with product partners to assess needs of international and domestic customers and offer appropriate solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
