Job Description
Purpose of the Role
To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.
Accountabilities
- Management of Client Relationships:
- Identify the clients' financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance.
- Support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and additional services to support client needs.
- Research and Understanding:
- Research and understand the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
- Design of Customised Solutions:
- Design solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
- Communication and Negotiation:
- Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
- Guidance and Support:
- Provide guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, risk management, and wealth management strategies and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
- Risk Assessment and Management:
- Assess financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implement measures to minimize potential losses.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Document all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Monitor client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
- Market Research and Analysis:
- Execute market research and analysis to support the identification of potential new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, to develop strategies for business growth.

- Be a subject matter expert within own discipline and guide technical direction.

- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
- Relationship Building:
- Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.

Role Overview
Join us at Barclays as a Relationship Director working within the East Midlands Mid Corporate team. In the UK Mid Corporate Coverage business area of Corporate Banking, we seek to understand our clients’ objectives, opportunities, and challenges, and work with them to achieve their business ambitions. In this role, you will effectively manage, develop, and grow a portfolio of approximately 40 customers each with a turnover of between £6.5 and £50m or having debt requirements in excess of £1m through excellent customer service and deepening relationships.
Requirements
To be successful as a Relationship Director, you should have:

- Business Skills: Including solution delivery and decision-making.
- Communication, Influencing, and Collaboration Skills.
- Stakeholder Management Skills: Ability to build and maintain internal networks.

- Knowledge of lending, pricing, risk, and controls.
- Understanding of industry trends and the key drivers affecting business owners.
- Experience managing and developing client portfolios.
- A track record of business development and acquiring new clients.
Location
This role is based in Nottingham.
