Relationship Manager - Corporate Banking

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a high-impact Relationship Manager opportunity within our Corporate Banking team, where you’ll take ownership of a dynamic portfolio of clients across New Zealand’s key industry sectors.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will manage and grow a portfolio of corporate customers, providing expert lending advice and tailored financial solutions that support their strategic and commercial objectives. You’ll develop a deep understanding of your clients’ businesses, industries and growth ambitions, positioning yourself as a trusted partner and delivering long-term value.

You’ll operate at the centre of deal execution—identifying opportunities, structuring solutions, and working closely with product specialists, analysts and support teams to deliver for your customers.

What You’ll Be Accountable For

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of corporate customers, delivering exceptional and seamless service
  • Building strong, enduring relationships with clients and key intermediaries including brokers and accountants
  • Identifying and executing new business opportunities aligned to customer needs and market trends
  • Leading industry insight and maintaining a strong understanding of the sectors you support
  • Structuring and contributing to high-quality credit submissions and maintaining strong portfolio health
  • Operating within all risk, compliance, AML and CCCFA requirements
  • Representing Westpac in the market, strengthening our brand and presence within your portfolio and local network

You’ll be supported by a high-performing team, including Relationship Associates, Analysts, Customer Support, and market-leading product specialists.

You are a commercially astute Relationship Manager with a strong track record in corporate or business banking. You combine deep lending expertise with the ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and identify growth opportunities.

You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in Business or Corporate Lending
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Sound knowledge of credit, risk, products and pricing
  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand corporate market and economic environment
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility
  • Highly developed commercial acumen and the ability to translate insights into action
  • A growth mindset, with ambition to build your career in Corporate Banking
  • Ideally, 5+ years’ relevant banking experience and a tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or a related field
