About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Relationship Manager - Business Banking to join our team in Manchester.
The role will focus on acquiring, managing and growing Business Banking/SME relationships, driving portfolio growth and profitability, and providing customers with a comprehensive range of banking solutions.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in Business/SME Banking, relationship management, customer acquisition, credit, lending and Trade Finance, with the ability to develop long-term relationships with business owners and key decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire and manage a portfolio of Business Banking/SME customers across the assigned market.
- Identify and acquire new business customers, including exporters, importers and high-value local businesses.
- Drive business across Current Accounts, Savings Accounts, Term Deposits, FX, Treasury and Remittance solutions.
- Develop opportunities across Trade Finance, including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, SBLCs and Documentary Collections.
- Identify lending opportunities and generate referrals for commercial lending and other credit solutions.
- Manage existing relationships and drive cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
- Conduct a 360-degree assessment of customer requirements and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners, promoters and key stakeholders.
- Build the NR/NRI business book and generate referrals for UK and NRI personal banking solutions.
- Act as a referral channel for Private Banking and collaborate with internal banking teams.
- Generate new business through market research, networking, referrals, industry events and community forums.
- Develop and maintain a database of prospective customers and market opportunities.
- Achieve agreed targets for customer acquisition, revenue, portfolio growth and profitability.
- Support customer onboarding, including KYC, due diligence, risk clearance and internal approvals.
- Support the preparation of credit appraisal notes, asset reviews and waiver requests.
- Coordinate with Credit, Risk, Legal, Operations and Compliance teams for facility documentation and execution.
- Monitor existing customer relationships and proactively identify opportunities and risks.
- Maintain accurate CRM/relationship records, MIS and performance dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, customer profiling, risk assessment and internal banking policies.
- Represent the Bank at relevant industry events and networking forums to generate new business opportunities.

Key Requirements
- Previous experience in Business Banking, SME Banking, Commercial Banking or Relationship Management.
- Proven track record in customer acquisition and portfolio growth.
- Strong understanding of SME/business banking products and solutions.
- Experience with lending/credit and financial assessment.
- Good Knowledge Of Trade Finance, Including
- Letters of Credit (LCs)
- Bank Guarantees (BGs)
- SBLCs
- Documentary Collections
- Understanding of FX and Treasury products would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of KYC, AML and customer due diligence.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and networking skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify new business opportunities.
- Self-motivated, target-driven and proactive.
- Strong stakeholder management and team collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned market as required.
