About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially minded Relationship Manager to join our Development Finance team at Hampshire Trust Bank.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing development finance transactions from initial assessment through to completion, whilst building long-term relationships with SME property developers and housebuilders across the UK.
You’ll work closely with Lending Directors, Credit Risk, Portfolio Management and external professional advisers to assess opportunities, structure transactions and deliver an exceptional customer experience throughout the lending journey.
This role offers a unique chance to contribute to a specialist team that provides bespoke funding solutions to experienced property professionals, helping support the delivery of residential developments across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Assessment & Analysis
- Review and critically assess project and corporate information provided by prospective borrowers
- Conduct financial reviews and viability assessments using HTB’s development finance appraisal models
- Analyse lending opportunities and assess the strength of development proposals
- Prepare high-quality Credit Papers for presentation to Credit Committee

Transaction Execution
- Take ownership of transactions from credit approval through to completion
- Prepare facility letters in line with approved lending terms
- Manage loan conditions and ensure transactions are completed in accordance with policy and credit requirements
- Deliver excellent customer service throughout the deal lifecycle
Relationship Management
- Accompany Lending Directors on client meetings and site visits
- Build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, brokers and professional advisers
- Ensure actions arising from meetings are progressed efficiently and accurately
- Contribute to growing HTB’s profile within the residential development market
Stakeholder Management
- Instruct and work closely with solicitors, valuers and monitoring surveyors
- Review and interpret professional reports and resolve issues where required
- Liaise with internal teams including Credit Risk, Compliance and Portfolio Management
- Manage KYC, source of wealth, source of funds and sanctions requirements

What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience within Financial Services
- Experience within Development Finance, Property Finance, Commercial Lending or a related lending environment
- Strong interest in residential property and development
- Understanding of UK property market trends and development projects
- Experience working within a fast-paced environment
