Role Overview

The role provides a dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of customers, both domestic and international relationships with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery.

The Relationship Director role will identify customer needs with the aim to recommend appropriate solutions for the customer.

The tasks for this role will include some or all of the following:

  • Develop a business growth strategy, identifying the most promising prospects and opportunities to expand your portfolio and broaden client relationships
  • Engage with clients and prospects as a strategic partner, building trust and more fully developed and mutually beneficial relationships
  • Build commercial credibility with clients and leverage a strong internal network to deliver appropriate, needs-based solutions
  • Protect the bank’s reputation and ensure an acceptable risk profile whilst deepening your understanding of the client through credit and customer due diligence reviews
  • Drive revenue growth through understanding customer and prospect needs and by adopting a solutions-focussed approach which engages clients and prospects and increases new business opportunities
  • Embrace HSBC’s values of being open, dependable, and connected when dealing with clients, prospects, and colleagues and always strive to deliver fair outcomes for our clients.
  • Effectively manage work and support resources to increase quality and time of client visits opportunities
  • Collaborate with product partners to assess needs of international and domestic customers and offer appropriate solutions
  • Deepen understanding of the client through pro-active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews
  • Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating, and mitigating risk.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable operational risk HSBC Standards and policies, reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures
  • Keep abreast of developments, products, and offerings from HSBC, competitors, and market changes
  • Ensure prompt escalation or sharing of relevant information relating to the client, so that members of the client coverage team can form and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the risks to HSBC by the client

Relationship Management role holders will be required to gain knowledge of a product area and in some geographies may need to hold specific certificates or need membership of a regulatory body.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a client-facing role, preferably in a financial environment,
  • Understanding of Business types and structures together with product/facility knowledge relevant to segment
  • A robust understanding of Risk Management, to include, Credit Analysis, Financial Crime Risk, Reputational, and Operational Risk.
  • Good level of business acumen and local and international commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural, and regulatory issues so being an active, visible, and proactive ambassador for HSBC in the local community
  • Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs through matching a broad range of products and services and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Understand and support consistent, inclusive, and people-centric practice to support personal wellbeing and diversity within their team, creating an environment and culture of openness and feedback where colleagues feel respected, and engagement remains high
  • Keep up-to-date on knowledge of HSBC's international and domestic strategy, capabilities, and policies
  • Understanding of Bank’s systems – including Browser Main Menu, Client Vision, CARM, OMNIA, HORIS, Document Viewer, Excel, Word, Outlook
