Role Overview

The Relationship Manager, Multinationals will be responsible for originating and growing Zenith Bank (UK) Limited’s multinationals business through new client acquisition and strategic client relationship management. The role requires strong expertise in trade finance, credit appraisal, facility structuring, syndications, and other core banking disciplines.

The successful candidate will drive new business across target markets by leveraging the Bank’s operating model to identify, develop and secure new client relationships. He/she will also support the development of new products tailored to customer’s business needs, build and manage and asset portfolio, and work with clients that have business interests both in their home markets and internationally.

Role Responsibilities

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new clients and manage relationship with existing clients to originate new transactions.
  • Identify and follow up on relevant cross selling opportunities and contribute to the overall growth of the Bank’s business development business.
  • Maintain regular on-going business relationships with a portfolio of designated corporate clients and grow the wallet share across managed accounts.
  • Maintain regular formal and informal contacts with customers by through client visits, meetings and networking events.
  • Lead the preparation and processing of credit applications and related documentations for both existing and prospective facilities.
  • Ensure all the designated customer credit files remain accurate, complete, and are up to date.
  • Monitor changes in the business environment and assess their impact on credit risk and business opportunities.
  • Monitor market conditions and competitor activity to ensure new business opportunities are identified and market share is protected.
  • Drive account opening process, including issuing account opening forms, collecting required information, completing internal documentation and ensuring accounts are opened efficiently.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders across the Bank and with Zenith Group subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and present new credit application and credit reviews to the London Credit Committee, head Office Global Credit committee, and to the board as required.
  • Monitor existing relationship and exposure levels.
  • Prepare team performance presentations for Monthly Performance Reviews (MPRs) and present key updates.
  • Provide updates of team activity during review sessions, including new deals, new accounts, and prospects.
  • Attend marketing meetings and provide updates on new market trends, products, and business opportunities.
  • Support the design and development of new products and presenting proposals to the bank for approval where appropriate.
  • Ensure effective governance by consistently meeting regulatory expectations, including Treating Customers Fairly, Know Your Customer, suitability, and proper documentation standards.
  • Ensure prompt escalation and resolution of customer complaints and maintain awareness of reporting to irregularities, KYC, AML and related matters.
  • Maintain high standards of business conduct and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with and respond to queries from other departments in timely manner.
  • Comply with the FCA/PRA’s Individual Conduct Rules, as outlined below.
  • Complete all mandatory training and development requirements on time.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably assigned.

Internal Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationship and identify cross selling opportunities across Zenith Group departments to ensure clients are managed effectively and new business is developed appropriately; share responsibility with internal stakeholders for delivering a seamless end-to-end client experience and maintaining high client satisfaction.
  • Proactively engage with internal teams to support business initiative and change management activities as required.

Skills/Knowledge Required

Professional/Technical Experience

  • Strong relationship skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of corporate banking, credit, trade finance, treasury, syndications and other cross functional products
  • Strong marketing skills, with ability to interpret complex financial information
  • Good knowledge of the UK regulatory requirements and an overall understanding of the impact on the business environment
  • Strong presentation and marketing skills

Language and Numeric Skills

  • Excellent command of verbal and written English language. Able to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Speaks multiple languages (at least one other fluent language in addition to English)

Experience

  • Experience in prospecting, business development and trade business and building a client-base using internal and external networks
  • Experience with managing relationships in the European and international business market
  • Credit knowledge and experience in facility structuring
  • Experience in developing new products to suit customer’s business needs
  • Work experience in both large multinational and mid-size international banks and/or cross geographies are preferred

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree level
  • Minimum of 8 years work experience in similar or related role

This is a permanent position, paying up to £70,000.00 based on experience.
