Join our team as a Relationship Manager, SME Business Banking, based in either Cardiff or Newtown.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within HSBC’s SME Business Banking segment, where you will engage with existing and prospective clients to help them realise their business ambitions.
As a Relationship Manager, your primary goal is to act as a trusted advisor, influencing clients with a turnover of £2m – £15m, while delivering world-class customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 50-70 clients, driving sustainable growth by identifying opportunities to expand relationships and leveraging HSBC’s global network
- Promote HSBC as a business ambassador by enhancing the bank’s presence in the local and community business landscape
- Prioritise customer needs above all else, ensuring outstanding service and setting high standards
- Identify new business opportunities and nurture existing relationships
- Build strategic connections with local professionals and business owners to introduce new clients
- Ensure compliance with HSBC’s processes for managing credit, operational, reputitional, financial crime, and regulatory risks
- Collaborate with product experts to assess domestic and international customer needs and provide tailored financial solutions

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience in Business/Corporate Banking
- Strong relationship management skills, with a passion for delivering excellent customer service
- Business development expertise, particularly in account expansion and winning new business
- Commercial lending experience
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and convey information clearly
- A deep understanding of risk management principles
- A full driving licence, required for in-person client meetings across South & Mid Wales and the Border regions
