Relationship Support Analyst

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Relationship Support Analyst.

You’ll play a key role in helping Relationship Managers (RMs) strengthen and grow client relationships. By understanding existing and prospective customers’ needs, you’ll identify opportunities for relevant products and services, carry out customer research, and provide insightful financial and credit analysis. You’ll also help RMs prepare for impactful customer meetings, coordinate credit applications and renewals, and support the timely escalation and management of risk issues. It’s a varied role that combines commercial insight, customer focus and strong coordination to help deliver positive outcomes for clients and the business.

In this role you’ll:

  • Support Relationship Managers (RMs) in maximising the value of client relationships, improving engagement and delivering fair, needs-based outcomes.
  • Attend client meetings where appropriate and act as a first point of contact for customers’ day-to-day credit-related enquiries.
  • Prepare clear and commercially focused analysis, proposals and presentations for prospective and existing customers.
  • Assist with client planning, pipeline management, product-partner coordination and the timely updating of client records and call reports.
  • Undertake financial, credit and profitability analysis, including preparing accurate account remarks and supporting credit applications.
  • Coordinate with external parties, such as lawyers and valuers, to support transaction execution and credit-related activity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Group and product teams to deliver suitable solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end credit process with Service Delivery, review outputs, resolve issues and monitor credit, Global Standards, AML and sanctions risks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
