In the Manufacturing team at JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC), you’ll help power iconic electric cars. You will be responsible for developing and delivering Reliability and Maintainability systems and processes for both existing manufacturing operations and new technologically advanced propulsion systems. The Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EPMC) currently manufactures components and assemblies for both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) propulsion systems.
Drawing on your extensive knowledge of high-volume precision manufacturing, you will develop and implement robust processes and systems that support the achievement of safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
You will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing systems are reliable, maintainable, and capable of supporting current production requirements while enabling the successful introduction of future propulsion technologies.
What To Expect
In this role, no two tasks are the same. With lots of projects and relationships to build with people across the business and beyond, it’s a challenge that will help your career grow within an iconic organisation. Here’s what to expect:
- Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams to support the resolution of operational issues and major breakdowns, while driving improvements in plant reliability and equipment performance.
- Identify critical spare parts for both new and existing projects. Raise new stock items, review existing spare parts holdings, assess safety stock levels, lead times, costs and source emergency spares as required. Work collaboratively with the stores provider to improve inventory management processes.
- Identify Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements, negotiate and establish SLA contracts, plan maintenance activities, and manage contractors on site. Develop shutdown work plans, raise Contractor Job Registrations, and ensure all required documentation is in place before vendor engineers attend site.
- Manage part failures through the FRACAS process by collecting and analysing failure data, coordinating component investigations, implementing corrective actions, and feeding findings back to stakeholders. Communicate key learnings and recommendations to Production and Management teams.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to support continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing maintenance and production losses.
- Analyse Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Technical Availability (TA) and OEE data. Manage TPM activities through the SAP PM system and optimise preventative maintenance schedules based on failure analysis and equipment performance trends.
- Produce reports from SAP PM data to support downtime analysis, identify trends, and highlight improvement opportunities.

What You’ll Need
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
- Experience of SAP PM navigation & workings
- Experience of conducting root cause analysis
- Experience in interacting with external sources (Vendor, OEM, Supplier)
- Experience and knowledge of engine component machining, assembly, and testing, or transferable experience from related industries.
- Strong technical knowledge across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively across functional boundaries and at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, identify issues and implement effective solutions using initiative, combined with the determination and resilience to achieve results.
