Who We Are In a Nutshell
At British Engineering Services Group, we pride ourselves on being the leading end-to-end risk management solutions provider in the UK and Ireland. Our job is to help keep our customers’ assets legally compliant, operational and, above all, safe. We achieve this by bringing together a team of the very best and most talented people.
British Engineering Services Asset Reliability delivers specialist Condition Monitoring services that help customers identify potential issues in their assets before they lead to costly failures or unplanned downtime. Our expert engineers collect and analyse real-time data — including vibration, temperature and oil condition — to detect irregularities and assess asset health. With predictive maintenance techniques, we enable maintenance to be carried out only when needed, helping customers improve efficiency, extend asset life and keep critical equipment operating reliably.
What will you be doing?
As a Reliability Engineer for British Engineering Services Asset Reliability, you will deliver condition monitoring services to customers across the North West, combining onsite data collection with home-based analysis and reporting. You’ll diagnose developing machinery faults and provide practical recommendations that help our customers improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
You will:
- Carry out vibration monitoring and condition monitoring activities across a wide range of industrial rotating equipment.
- Analyse vibration spectra, waveform data and machine trends to identify developing faults and failure modes.
- Diagnose machinery issues including bearing faults, imbalance, misalignment, mechanical looseness and lubrication-related problems.
- Assess the severity and operational risk of identified defects and help customers prioritise corrective maintenance activity.
- Produce clear and accurate condition monitoring reports, providing customers with practical maintenance recommendations.
- Build strong customer relationships, clearly communicating technical findings and supporting improvements in reliability and maintenance performance.
- Maintain customer databases, monitoring routes and asset records, ensuring consistently high reporting standards.
- Continue developing your technical expertise through industry-recognised training and condition monitoring accreditations, while sharing knowledge and best practice across the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
