Job Title: Reliability Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer to support a major engineering programme within the Maritime defence sector.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) process across complex electrical, mechanical, power generation and propulsion systems. Working closely with Lead Design Engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will facilitate technical DFMEA workshops, capture engineering knowledge, identify potential failure modes and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are developed and tracked.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the DFMEA process for key electrical, mechanical, propulsion and power-generation components.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DFMEA methodology and reliability engineering activities.
- Build, maintain and manage DFMEA databases using ReliaSoft Xfmea / RCM++.
- Lead and facilitate technical DFMEA workshops with Lead Design Engineers and other engineering stakeholders.
- Identify and document failure modes, failure causes, effects, controls and mitigation actions.
- Challenge engineering assumptions and support teams in identifying opportunities to improve design reliability.
- Ensure DFMEA documentation remains accurate, controlled and aligned with programme requirements.
- Track DFMEA actions, risks, progress and relevant KPIs.
- Produce reliability reports and provide clear programme status updates.
- Present DFMEA and reliability progress to project leadership and naval/customer stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across electrical, mechanical, systems, design and project engineering teams.

Essential Experience

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Strong practical experience with DFMEA / FMEA / FMECA.
- Demonstrable experience owning or leading DFMEA activities.
- Hands-on experience using ReliaSoft Xfmea and/or RCM++.
- Experience facilitating technical workshops with senior/design engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering failure mechanisms and reliability principles.
- Ability to interpret complex electrical and/or mechanical engineering systems.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
