Salary: £28940 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
Our Visitor Centre opened in January 2017 and sits on the banks of the River Tummel, looking over the beautiful Loch Faskally. SSE has a wealth of heritage and history waiting to be discovered by the 100,000+ people that visit the centre each year.
The centre features a busy café, serving fresh local produce to our visitors and providing breath-taking views over Pitlochry Dam and the River Tummel. In addition, there are two exhibition areas, a shop stocking a range of interesting and relevant souvenirs and gifts and a multipurpose room which can be used as an education centre and meeting room.
We are currently seeking a Baker/Relief Cook with a passion for delivering freshly prepared, high-quality baked goods and meals. This maternity cover role requires weekend availability.
You will
- Bake a variety of scones, cakes, and pastries, ensuring consistent quality and presentation, ensuring a good selection of freshly baked goods are always available for customers.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items and following established recipes.
- Step in as a relief cook when required, covering shifts and maintaining the same high standards in food preparation.
- General kitchen and cafe duties including serving, washing up, setting up, and clearing down as required.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in the kitchen, ensuring all food safety protocols are followed.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with placing orders for baking ingredients and kitchen supplies.

You have
- Proven experience as a baker or in a similar role within a kitchen environment, with strong skills in baking a variety of goods from scratch.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices, ideally within a café or food service setting.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with café staff and step into different roles when needed.
- Understanding of Health & Safety, Environmental Health, and Food Hygiene regulations and a commitment to maintaining compliance.
