Harman’s Facilities Management provides comprehensive facilities management services across the UK, with a strong focus on contract catering and professional cleaning. As a family-owned business, Harman’s is led by Erika and Grant Harman, who started the company over 26 years ago. The company works to British Retail Consortium requirements and adheres to HACCP food hygiene and safety guidelines. Harman’s is a SafeContractor approved organization, enabling service delivery in demanding industrial and construction environments.
Role Description
The Relief Chef will support teams in contract catering settings across the country when the regular site staff are on annual leave or sick leave.
- You will be required in varying capacities from short term holiday cover to longer term project work to improve food quality or service, and introducing new ideas to sites.
- The relief chef may also be required as part of the mobilisation team for new contracts, and may be involved in the setting up and running of new site canteens until permanent staff are appointed.
- You will also be required to help cover catering assistant roles when needed.

30-45 hours per week.
Duties
- Support and guide the catering teams across the region (company van provided, for work use only) including but not limited to Leeds, Bolton, Burton-on-Trent.
- Must be prepared to travel, and stay over when required - hotels and food allowance provided.
- Cover holidays and sickness leave across the region.
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks following menus, ensuring all food is prepared to the required standards.
- Stock ordering and food rotation, ensuring adequate supplies are always maintained.
- Carry out stock takes.
- Pot washing and kitchen clean downs.
- Monitor and report on wastage.
- Maintain all required records relating to food production activities and supplier information.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness in all food preparation and service areas.
- Ensuring health and safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and achieved.
- Meet with all required Environmental Health and HACCP legislations.
- Support with menu ideas across all sites within the area.

Experience
- Proven experience in a chef manager/supervisory role working within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent culinary skills.
- Communication skills.
- A high-level of understanding of HACCP and food safety.
- Must be happy to be mobile and travel across the region to cover sites.
Rate of pay - £14.50 per hour
This position offers significant career prospects for the right person within an expanding family business.
This role will offer 30-45 hours per week, and will vary from week to week.
Company vehicle provided. Must hold a full UK driving license. Driving license and DBS check will be carried out on the successful candidate before commencing work with the company. All staff are subject to random unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
