Role Description

The Relief Driver is a full-time remote role responsible for supporting multiple pharmacy branches by providing reliable delivery services as needed. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Collecting prescriptions and medications from designated branches
  • Delivering them promptly and safely to patients, care homes, and healthcare facilities
  • Ensuring accurate documentation for each delivery
  • Maintaining clear communication with pharmacy teams regarding schedules, changes, and delivery priorities
  • Following all relevant regulations and company procedures
  • Upholding high standards of customer service
  • Handling sensitive items responsibly
  • Reporting any issues or delays in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Strong driving skills, including a clean and valid driving license and a safe driving record
  • Reliability and time management skills to plan routes, meet delivery deadlines, and respond to short-notice schedule changes
  • Customer service and communication skills to interact courteously with patients, carers, and pharmacy staff
  • Attention to detail for handling prescriptions accurately, checking delivery information, and maintaining basic records
  • Ability to follow procedures and comply with relevant regulations, including confidentiality and safe handling of medication
  • Physical ability to lift and carry delivery bags or boxes as required, within reasonable limits
  • Basic geographic knowledge of Central Scotland, Fife, and the Scottish Borders, or ability to use navigation tools effectively
  • Previous experience in delivery, healthcare, or pharmacy settings is beneficial but not mandatory
