Job Description
🔒 Relief Security Officer – Reading | £15.79 per hour 🔒
- 12 hour shifts- Days, Nights & Weekends
- Contracted Hours: 42 hours per week
- Location: Reading
- Pay Rate: £14.56 - £15.14 per hour

We are currently recruiting a professional and vigilant Relief security Officer to join our team at a high-profile site in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who take pride in delivering safety and security to people, property, and sensitive environments.
As a Security Officer you will be responsible for protecting people, property, and premises by maintaining a safe and secure environment. Their role involves monitoring access points, conducting patrols, responding to alarms or incidents, and ensuring compliance with site-specific security procedures. They act as a visible deterrent to potential threats, provide clear reporting and documentation, and often serve as the first point of contact for staff, visitors, and emergency services. Security Officers are expected to remain alert, professional, and courteous at all times, while upholding safety, confidentiality, and high standards of customer service.

📋 Responsibilities:
- Enforce site-specific security protocols and procedures
- Carry out internal and external patrols regardless of weather
- Ensure all personnel and vehicles entering the site are authorised
- Monitor health and safety hazards and escalate concerns
- Conduct bag, vehicle, or personnel searches if required
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times
- Keep up-to-date records for all security activity and handovers
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and visitors professionally
- Support lock/unlock duties, key management, and access control logs
- Attend regular briefings and refresher training sessions
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
✅ Requirements:
- Must hold a valid SIA Licence
- Eligible and willing to undergo SC (Security Clearance) checks – must have been a UK resident for at least 5 years
- 5-year checkable work or education history – full referencing required
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
- Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends
Additional Information
Based in Bournemouth to travel to Portsmouth and Weymouth when needed.
