Retail Security Relief Officer – Tesco Partnership
Location: Tesco Thirsk, Station Road, Thirsk, YO7 1PZ, England
Area Coverage: Relief role covering all Tesco stores across the York region. Due to the wide geographical area covered, travel between sites will be required.
Pay: £13.47 per hour / Weekly Pay (every Friday)
Hours: Flexible Contract – 0–48 hours per week (as per rota)
Shifts: Various shift patterns, Monday to Sunday
Typical Shift Times
- 05:30 – 13:30
- 06:00 – 14:00
- 07:00 – 15:00
- 12:00 – 20:00
- 13:30 – 23:00
- 15:00 – 00:00
About The Role
Kingdom Group, a trusted partner to Tesco, is seeking professional, reliable, and customer-focused Relief Security Officers to join our Retail Security team based at Tesco Thirsk.
This is a flexible relief position supporting Tesco stores throughout the York region. As a Relief Security Officer, you will play a key role in protecting colleagues, customers, and assets while delivering exceptional customer service across multiple locations.
Due to the wide area covered by this role, flexibility and the ability to travel are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrolling stores to maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and colleagues
- Acting as a visible deterrent against theft, anti-social behaviour, and criminal activity
- Monitoring premises and responding appropriately to security incidents
- Conducting store security checks and supporting loss prevention initiatives
- Completing accurate reports and maintaining detailed incident records
- Working closely with Tesco management teams and fellow security officers
- Delivering excellent customer service while maintaining a professional security presence
- Supporting security operations across multiple Tesco stores within the York region

What We're Looking For
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (essential)
- Own transport is required due to travel across multiple stores within the York region
- Full 5-year checkable employment history
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Professional, confident, and reliable approach
- Good attention to detail and sound decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Previous retail security experience is desirable but not essential
- Full flexibility to work varying shift patterns, including weekends and evenings
- Candidates must not be students

Additional Information
- A full five-year checkable employment history will be required.
- You will receive a contract of employment from your employer separately.
- Pay is processed weekly via HIVE 360 Payroll Services.
- This role is initially offered on a temporary basis and is not directly employed by Kingdom Service Group.
- Opportunities may become available to transfer onto a permanent Kingdom contract in the future.
- This is a relief/flexi position, therefore full flexibility is essential.
- Travel to Tesco stores across the wider York region is an integral part of the role.
