We’re Hiring: Relief Security Officer!
📍 Location: Hertfordshire and Essex: Hatfield, Harlow, Basildon, Canvey Islands, Chelmsford, Southend-on-Sea
💰 Pay: £13.50 per hour
📅 Hours: 36 hours per week: Working days, nights & weekends

A Relief Security Officer is responsible for providing security services across multiple sites within a defined geographical area, ensuring the safety of people, property, and assets in line with site-specific requirements and assignment instructions. The role requires delivering a high standard of customer service while consistently demonstrating the organisation’s core values, including integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness.
As a Relief Security Officer, you key responsibilities include preventing unauthorised access, monitoring security systems such as alarms and CCTV, and carrying out regular internal and external patrols. The role also involves managing site access, handling keys, completing equipment checks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all procedures are followed in line with company and client requirements.

Job Description
Responsibilities
You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:
- Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site.
- Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate.
- Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
- Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate.
- Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
- Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions.
- Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions.
- To provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- A valid SIA licence.
- Driving licence.
- Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be British nationals and eligible to meet the necessary security requirements.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends.
- The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history.
- Physically fit and capable of long periods of standing and walking.
- Able to multitask effectively. E.g. CCTV monitoring, patrols, incident response, and report writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to follow procedures and company policies.
- Honest, trustworthy, and acts with integrity.
- Great decision-making skills in challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken.
