From early-stage brownfield risk reviews and remediation strategies to waste classification, materials management, and on-site remediation works, Grounded provides support across the full project lifecycle. Role Description
This is a full-time (contract), on-site role based in Tiverton for Remediation Operatives. The role involves carrying out contaminated land remediation activities, including soil excavation, segregation, and treatment in line with project-specific remediation strategies and method statements.

- Operating appropriate plant and equipment.
- Handling and moving soils and materials including non-licensed asbestos safely.
- Assisting with waste classification and materials management under supervision.
Remediation Operatives collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and environmental specialists to:
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Support accurate site records and documentation.
The role also includes adhering to regulatory and client requirements, reporting site issues or unexpected ground conditions, and contributing to efficient, sustainable project delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience in remediation or civil engineering site operations, including safe handling of soils and materials including non-licensed asbestos.
- Understanding of basic environmental principles, contaminated land issues, and waste management practices (training can be provided).
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, health, safety, and environmental regulations; ability to follow risk assessments, method statements, and site rules.
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based team, communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues, and follow instructions accurately.
- Good practical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new remediation techniques and procedures.
- Physically able to perform manual tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions and use standard site tools and equipment safely.
- CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification is preferred; experience operating plant or equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders) is an advantage.
- Full UK driving license and reliable access to the Tiverton site are beneficial.
