Salary: £30 per hour
Hours: Flexible, 10–25 hours per week (Term-time only, Monday–Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm, focused on core peak delivery hours)
Location: Remote / Work from Home — Must be resident and based in the UK with QTS gained in the UK.
Other Art roles also available: Full-time Online Art Teachers with a Salary £39,750 are also available at our head office in Dinnington, Sheffield alongside part time, term-time or flexible arrangements.
Contract: Direct contract with EDClass for Part-time / Hourly (Commitment to the full academic year preferred)

EDClass is an accredited online education provider by the Department for Education (DfE), delivering high-quality, innovative alternative provision across the UK. We work extensively with schools, multi-academy trusts, and local authorities to provide personalised learning pathways for students accessing Section 19 provision, Education Other Than At School (EOTAS), medical needs support, and school inclusion programs. In the near future, we will also be extending our delivery to Electively Home Educated (EHE) students.

As an accredited provider now offering GCSEs and comprehensive qualifications to a wide range of learners, we are expanding our teaching team. We are seeking qualified, passionate, and creative Online Art and Design Teachers to match the growing demand across our live academic delivery.
Delivery Model and Platform Structure
Lessons are 1 hour long in live, timetabled sessions structured across our specialised virtual learning environments:
- EDLive: Small-group, highly focused live timetabled lessons (1:1 to 1:5 ratio) centred on structured artistic projects, technique demonstrations, curriculum objectives, art history/contextual studies, and core subject teaching.
- EDTeach: Targeted intervention sessions delivered on a 1:1 or up to 1:3 ratio, designed around key focus points to directly diagnose and address specific gaps in practical skill, portfolio development, media exploration, and technical execution.
- EDClass Plus: Live, responsive teaching assistance where teachers support students as they work through portfolio tasks, exam board assessment objectives, interactive e-learning modules, and structured pathways, including taking students into live breakout rooms for focused, real-time intervention, one-to-one critique, and scaffolding.

The Role
As an Online Art Teacher at EDClass, you will deliver structured, inspiring, and high-impact sessions across Key Stage 3 and GCSE Art, Craft and Design (across major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, and OCR).
Our platform supports a diverse cohort of learners, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or students facing barriers to mainstream education. You will play a central role in unlocking creative expression, rebuilding self-esteem, guiding students through practical portfolio components, closing skill gaps, and guiding pupils toward accredited qualification success and successful reintegration.
Key Responsibilities
- Live Interactive Teaching: Deliver 1-hour timetabled lessons across EDLive, targeted skill and portfolio intervention in EDTeach, and responsive breakout room coaching in EDClass Plus.
- Curriculum and Portfolio Guidance: Deliver high-quality instruction across KS3 Art and GCSE Art and Design specifications, guiding learners through practical exploration, sketchbooks, contextual studies, and preparatory work across all required Assessment Objectives (AOs).
- Digital Learning and Content: Assist learners as they navigate e-learning pathways, digital portfolios, visual resources, and creative exercises; plan and record engaging video demonstrations and technique tutorials for our digital library.
- Assessment and Feedback: Provide regular, constructive critique and feedback (both verbally and written) to develop artistic independence and ensure accurate tracking against GCSE grading rubrics.
- Inclusive Pedagogy: Apply calm, encouraging, and supportive approaches to engage vulnerable, disaffected, or anxious learners, using art as a vehicle for engagement and success.
- Safeguarding and Reporting: Uphold rigorous safeguarding standards at all times, monitoring student wellbeing and providing detailed feedback to partner schools regarding attendance, engagement, and portfolio progress.
- Additional Opportunities: Additional paid hours may be available for portfolio moderation, marking, parental meetings, and pastoral mentoring.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Location: Must be currently resident and based in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
- Qualifications: Must hold a recognised UK teaching qualification (Qualified Teacher Status / QTS, or secondary PGCE in Art and Design or closely related field).
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful secondary classroom or alternative provision teaching experience in Art and Design.
- Subject Knowledge: Strong command of the KS3 Art curriculum and KS4 GCSE Art and Design specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), including sketchbook development, mixed-media techniques, and portfolio curation.
- Digital Literacy: Confident ICT skills with the ability to demonstrate practical techniques via document cameras/webcams, manage virtual classroom features (breakout rooms, chat, audio, digital whiteboards), and keep pupils engaged online.
- Inclusive Practice: Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable, disengaged, or SEND/SEMH learners using supportive, patient, and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Safeguarding Commitment: Uncompromising commitment to child protection, pupil safety, and statutory guidance.
- Reliability: Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a commitment to maintaining timetable continuity for learners throughout the academic year.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering live online Art lessons or remote creative mentoring in small groups or one-to-one.
- Experience supporting students in producing digital art or compiling digital portfolios.
- Understanding of the DfE Online Education Accreditation Scheme standards.
Contract, Induction and Training
You will be employed directly under a formal contract with EDClass, with no third-party tutoring agencies, businesses, or intermediaries involved. All successful candidates are required to complete our compulsory staff induction, onboarding, and training programme, for which you will be fully paid. Additionally, you will be paid for any time spent working on-site at our head office.
