Location: Remote, UK-wide (ideally based near London, Manchester or Yorkshire)

Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits package, including enhanced pension, maternity/paternity pay, and company sick pay

Help Shape the Future of Building Safety

London Building Control, in partnership with Bureau Veritas, is looking for an experienced Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join our growing Building Control team as a Remote Plan Checker.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong RBI who enjoys the analytical side of building control and wants to focus on plan assessment work within a flexible role. You'll play a key part in ensuring developments comply with Building Regulations while helping deliver safe, sustainable, and high-quality buildings across England.

Whether you're currently working in local authority or approved inspector building control, this role offers the opportunity to focus on technical excellence while benefiting from the support, development opportunities, and resources of a market-leading organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Remote Plan Checker, you'll be responsible for:

  • Assessing building regulation applications, plans, and technical submissions for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Reviewing architectural, structural, fire safety, accessibility, and energy-related information.
  • Identifying compliance issues and providing clear, practical, and proportionate technical advice.
  • Managing statutory consultations with Fire and Rescue Authorities where required.
  • Reviewing amended submissions and supporting applicants through the approval process.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring assessments are completed within statutory timescales.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to colleagues across the wider building control team.
  • Supporting knowledge-sharing, technical training, and mentoring activities where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
