Position: Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Fully Remote (Candidates must be within a 21.5-hour time zone distance / maximum time difference of London to ensure effective collaboration)
Experience Required: 8 to 10+ years
Sector Focus: Commercial & Residential Fit-Out (CAT A & CAT B)
About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious and technically proficient Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team on a fully remote basis. You will take ownership of the electrical building services design for high-profile commercial and residential fit-out projects from concept through to completion.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in CAT A and CAT B commercial fit-outs, extensive multi-disciplinary coordination skills, and the capability to lead projects autonomously while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed electrical engineering design for CAT A and CAT B commercial fit-outs and high-end residential projects.
- Produce comprehensive design deliverables including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, security, and communication layouts.
- Perform complex electrical calculations (e.g., cable sizing, lighting design via Dialux/Relux, voltage drop, and earthing).
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) services seamlessly with architects, interior designers, and structural teams.
- Author technical specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation.
- Conduct technical reviews, site surveys (where applicable), and construction-stage monitoring.
- Manage client relationships, coordinate design meetings, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Experience:
- 8 to 10+ years of dedicated electrical building services design experience within a consultancy or contractor environment.
Sector Expertise:
- Proven track record delivering commercial (CAT A/B) and residential fit-out projects.
Technical Proficiency:
- Deep understanding of UK Building Regulations, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and relevant industry standards.
Software Skills:
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and electrical design software (Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux).
Location/Working Arrangement:
- Fully remote. Note: Candidates must reside within a maximum 21.5-hour time zone window from London to facilitate core overlap for meetings and project communication.
Qualifications:
- Degree-holding in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline (Chartered status or working towards CEng/MCIBSE is advantageous).
