Renewable Energy Systems Designer
We're looking for a Renewable Energy Systems Designer to join our growing team in Livingston to play a key role in delivering innovative, low-carbon solutions for residential and commercial clients.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sustainability, renewable technologies and engineering design to contribute to projects that make a real impact on energy efficiency, carbon reduction and long-term environmental performance.
The remit
- Analyse measured energy data and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
- Assess and manage the energy performance of new and existing buildings
- Develop carbon reduction, energy efficiency and cost-saving recommendations
- Design future-proof renewable energy systems
- Optimise Solar PV and Air Source Heat Pump installations for performance, reliability and value
- Collaborate with surveyors, retrofit teams, project managers and engineers to deliver successful projects
- Prepare technical reports, documentation and compliance submissions
- Support installation teams with troubleshooting and design revisions
- Manage your own projects and ensure delivery to agreed timescales and standards
- Identify innovative solutions that improve energy performance and sustainability outcomes

What we're looking for
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related subject
- Understanding of energy efficiency, carbon reduction and sustainability principles
- Knowledge of Solar PV, Heat Pumps and renewable energy technologies
- Experience producing technical designs, reports and recommendations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret and evaluate data from multiple sources
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Understanding of current and emerging legislation within the energy and built environment sectors
