This role will report to the Head of Renewables Development - UK and will provide strategic and project-based planning inputs to renewables developments across the UK. The role will contribute to the successful development of 1GW+ of renewable energy projects in wind, solar and BESS. Our current team is geographically spread across the UK with a focus in Edinburgh.

Your responsibilities

  • Originate, evaluate and secure acquisition and partnership opportunities with third-party developers to grow Uniper’s renewable energy pipeline across the UK and Ireland.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of developers, investors and strategic partners to identify new project opportunities in wind, solar and BESS.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of project transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures and cooperation agreements.
  • Conduct detailed commercial, technical and strategic assessments of projects and development partnerships to determine investment attractiveness and transaction potential.
  • Manage acquisition and partnership processes from initial engagement through transaction completion, working closely with the Asset Rotation / M&A team and other internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project teams and ensure effective management of development activities, budgets, schedules, risks and key milestones.
  • Manage external advisers and consultants throughout due diligence and transaction processes, critically assessing recommendations and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations, strategic proposals and business cases to senior management and governance bodies.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial evaluations, including project valuations, investment analyses and financial models to support decision-making.

Your profile

Essential

  • Significant experience in renewable energy project development, business development, M&A, transactions or investment activities.
  • Proven track record of originating, negotiating and securing renewable energy projects, partnerships or acquisitions.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess project value drivers, risks and investment opportunities.
  • Advanced financial analysis and modelling skills, including project valuation and investment appraisal techniques.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including Development, Engineering, Legal, Finance and senior leadership.
  • Experience managing external advisers and consultants as part of due diligence and transaction processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex commercial opportunities clearly and concisely.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment
