Role Title: Renewables Design Manager
Business Unit: Digital Infrastructure
Location: Leicester
Role Overview:
A confident individual to take full responsibility for design activities on projects of typical value between £0.5m-£5m that are allocated from award through to completion and to maintain and maximise quality of service and profitability. Working within a regional team and reporting to the EV framework manager in managing several site designs on a regional basis.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the East Midlands area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects throughout the UK.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Managing the relationships with the client, subcontractors, project, and design teams for the efficient development and delivery of designs on a project or bid.
- Lead the design process in accordance with the Galliford Try Building Management System.
- Apply and monitor compliance with CDM 2015 (including Principal Designer role where applicable) and the principle of prevention and safety in design.
- Identify and mitigate design risk and realise opportunities through all stages of a bid or project.
- Assist in the selections of designers for a project and ensure competency checks are undertaken.
- Develop and agree the scope and responsibilities for consultants and invite fees for the compilation and management of the project fee schedule.
- Develop the design programme in conjunction with the Planner and develop, manage, monitor, and report on the Information Release Schedules and progress and quality of design deliverables to seek advice.
- Manage statutory and 3rd party processes such as Planning, Building Control, BREEAM.
- Undertake site inspections to ensure the As-built product meets the design criteria.
About You:
- Experienced in and knowledge of CDM 2015 and the Principal Design role.
- Aware of H&S responsibilities and adheres to company policies.
- Able to read and interpret design and construction programmes.
- Understands buildability and will challenge if designs do not meet the sequencing or construction methodology.
- Analytical with advanced problem-solving skills.
- Able to develop ideas and present concisely.
- Excellent communicator able to engage with senior stakeholders.
- Able to demonstrate commercial acumen and managing of design change process.
