We’re partnering with a leading housing association to recruit a Rent & Service Charge Manager at an exciting time of transformation.

Following a recent review, the organisation is creating a new Rent & Service Charge team, offering the opportunity to shape the function from the ground up.

We’re looking for a technical expert in rent and service charges with strong people management experience and a passion for developing high-performing, customer-focused teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rent & Service Charge Management: Lead annual rent setting, service charge budgeting, forecasting, billing and year-end reconciliation across all tenures and properties.
  • Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee financial monitoring, variance analysis, reconciliations, GL mapping, accruals and audit-ready reporting, ensuring accurate and transparent financial information.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Assurance: Ensure rent, service charges, estate charges and utility billing comply with legislation, regulatory requirements, leases, policies and internal control frameworks.
  • Resident Engagement & Dispute Resolution: Provide clear communication on rents and service charges, manage complex queries and complaints, and support dispute and tribunal cases where required.
  • Process Improvement & Systems: Drive improvements to rent and service charge processes, data quality, controls and automation, including ownership of system requirements, UAT and configuration changes.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Lead and develop the rent and service charge team, manage KPIs and performance, and collaborate with Finance, Housing, Asset Management, Procurement and external partners to deliver effective customer and financial outcomes.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in rent and service charge management
  • In-depth experience managing complex variable service charges, estate charges, sinking funds and diverse rent regimes
  • Extensive operational management experience, including leading customer-facing teams
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach, develop and empower teams to achieve their full potential

What’s on offer

  • Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including competitive annual leave and a pension scheme with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Full-time, permanent contract
  • Location: East of England, with a largely remote working arrangement and occasional on-site attendance for business-critical meetings
