We have a fantastic opportunity for two Rent Assistants to join our Income team, one on a permanent basis and another on a 6-month contract or secondment basis. So, if you're looking for a new challenge in a varied role that will develop your customer service skills, then this could be the ideal opportunity for you!

A lot of your interactions with customers will be on the telephone, so you will need to be a good listener to give our customers an excellent service whenever they contact the Income team to discuss their rent account. You will also need to keep accurate records of the contact you have with each customer on our systems.

This is a busy front-line team which makes a real difference to the lives of our customers. You will be working as part of a supportive team, and you will be given fantastic training and mentoring. We know the early days of a new role will be challenging however we give you all the support you need to make you feel comfortable and have the knowledge and skills to support our customers in the best way.

  • You will need to have experience of working closely with customers in a customer focussed environment and ideally an understanding of welfare benefits or money management advice, although this is not essential as training will be given.
  • This role is well suited to someone with the ability to show empathy, with great listening skills, a positive attitude and the willingness to learn.
  • Experience in the housing sector would be desirable but applicants from other sectors will also be considered.

Where will you be working?

  • You'll work 35 hours per week covering between 8:30 am and 5.00pm and, whilst the role is home-based, fortnightly travel to our office at Birmingham Business Park is required so you'll need to live within an easy commute to be considered.
