Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils

Rent Officer

Make a real difference to people's lives

At Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping others, confident in having difficult conversations, and motivated by achieving positive outcomes.

You may not currently work in housing, and that's okay.

If you have experience supporting customers, managing challenging situations, solving problems, collecting payments, negotiating solutions, or helping people access support, you could already have the skills we're looking for.

We value attitude, behaviours and potential just as much as direct experience.

About The Role

As a Rent Officer, you'll be responsible for helping tenants sustain their tenancies while ensuring rental income is collected fairly and effectively.

No two days are the same. You could be:

  • Supporting a tenant who is struggling financially and helping them access benefits or support services
  • Working with residents to agree affordable repayment plans
  • Visiting customers in their homes to understand their circumstances
  • Building relationships with partner organisations to help people succeed
  • Investigating cases and taking appropriate action where rent arrears occur
  • Representing the Council in court proceedings when necessary
  • Finding solutions that balance compassion with accountability

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
