Rent and Service Charge Specialist

We are looking for a Rent and Service Charge Specialist to lead the accurate setting, implementation and recovery of rents and service charges across the Association's housing portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, tenancy agreements and organisational policies. The role is responsible for maximising income, maintaining the integrity of rent and service charge data, supporting long-term financial planning, and providing expert advice to ensure that rents and service charges are fair, transparent, sustainable and fully recoverable.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the annual rent setting process across the housing portfolio, ensuring all rent increases are calculated accurately and implemented in accordance with government rent policy, the Rent Standard, tenancy agreements and organisational policies.
  • Produce and maintain detailed rent models to support annual rent reviews and budget setting.
  • Validate rent calculations and undertake quality assurance checks prior to implementation.
  • Ensure all rent changes are correctly uploaded to housing management and finance systems within agreed timescales
  • Maximise service charge recovery whilst ensuring charges remain transparent, fair and compliant

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working within a housing association/local authority finance department with knowledge and experience of rent setting and service charge recovery.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills.
  • Experienced user of financial database ledger systems and housing management rent and service charge systems.
  • Extensive experience in collating, preparing and interpreting reports, budgets, and accounts.
  • Good oral communication skills.

Please note the office expectancy of this role is as follows: This role will require you in a minimum of one day a week and as per business need.
