Role: Medical Delivery Driver
Location: Field-based from our depot in Glasgow Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern
The role operates on a rolling shift pattern:
- Week 1: Monday–Friday (rest days: Saturday & Sunday)
- Week 2: Wednesday–Sunday (rest days: Monday & Tuesday)
- Week 3: Monday–Wednesday + Saturday–Sunday (rest days: Thursday & Friday)
About the Role
Working as part of the northern team, your responsibility will be to:
- Deliver and collect rental healthcare equipment to all hospital sites for:
- NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (Glasgow area)
- NHS Lothian (Edinburgh area)
- Supporting team duties for surrounding areas
- Travel between your local depot in Glasgow or directly to hospital sites, depending on orders.
Key duties include:
- Delivering equipment directly to wards (majority being pressure-relieving mattresses)
- Collecting unused equipment, then deflating, rolling up, and bagging mattresses for reinflation
- Logging serial numbers of equipment (using an iPad and iPhone) when delivered to and collected from hospitals
- Loading a large van at the depot to ensure delivery turnaround times remain under 4 hours
- Conducting route planning based on priorities (installation requests and orders)
- Operating as the face of Arjo for customers and patients in Scotland, reinforcing strong relationships through positive communication skills

Requirements
- Computer literacy: Will involve logging data digitally (via iPad and iPhone).
- Organisational skills:
- Strong practical approach and ability to adapt routes as required.
- Commitment to time-sensitive delivery of medical supplies within tight deadlines.
- Personal attributes:
- Motivating personality with enthusiasm, positivity, and a customer-first mindset.
- Strong team-oriented approach in a collaborative healthcare environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English for accurate communication with NHS staff and patients.
- Driving qualification:
- Valid UK driver’s license (minimum 1 year of continuous use).
- Clean driving record required to operate the Arjo company van effectively.
- Physical capability:
- Ability to lift bulky mattresses for prolonged periods (training/resources will be provided).
- Will regularly move heavy equipment in hospital settings (use of support equipment included).
- Flexibility & Resilience:
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and possibly participating in the On Call rota.
Essential Certifications & Compliance
- Enhanced PVG Scotland check (cost covered by Arjo).
- Valid UK driver’s license (held for at least 1 year).
