Job Description

Job Title: Repair Design Engineer

Location: Bristol – Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days On-Site Per Week)

Working Pattern: Full Time

As a Repair Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting operational Defence customers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing innovative repair solutions that extend the life of mission-critical components. Working with advanced aerospace technology, you will ensure that Rolls-Royce engines remain operational, efficient, and cost-effective.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a huge diversity of products, including engines such as Adour, EJ200, RB199, Gem, Gnome, Viper, Spey, MTR390, MT30, Pegasus, TP400, MRTT, and WR21. What You Will Be Doing

As a Repair Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions that support the repair and maintenance of critical aerospace components. Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining, developing, and substantiating Repair Instructions and coordinating implementation at internal and external Repair suppliers.
  • Establishing acceptance standards for service-run components and supporting MRO operations in hardware disposition.
  • Collaborating with Materials Repair Technology teams to develop and apply innovative repair and inspection technologies.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce repair costs and improve component reliability.
  • Driving continuous improvement in processes and tools used for developing and supporting repair instructions.

  • A degree in a STEM subject or relevant engineering experience (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Controls).
  • A broad understanding of gas turbine technologies (training can be provided).
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • The ability to manage multiple delivery commitments across different customers and timelines.
