3 months contract with a local authority

Rate: £39.50 per hour Umbrella

Summary

This position involves overseeing tradespersons, contractors, and support staff to ensure that repairs, maintenance, compliance, and planned works are executed effectively, safely, and in line with relevant legislation, Council policies, and service standards. The role requires providing technical expertise, conducting inspections and surveys, supporting contract management activities, and contributing to service improvement and performance management within the repairs service.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the operational delivery of the Council's Repairs and Maintenance Service.
  • Establish work priorities, allocate resources, and schedule maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee and coordinate tradespersons and contractors to ensure repairs meet efficiency and quality standards.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, and performance across various service areas.
  • Ensure precise accounting of labor, materials, and resources.
  • Perform regular audits of van stock and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

Essential Experience Required

  • Proven experience in construction, property maintenance, or building-related services.
  • Background in a customer-focused environment with a high-volume workload.
  • Experience in supervising or coordinating operational activities and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in maintenance and construction settings.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adhere to deadlines.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • A solid general education, including GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Technical qualification or accreditation for supervising gas, electrical, or asbestos-related works (as applicable to the role).
  • A full, valid driving license.
  • Access to a vehicle for business purposes.

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • The role involves both office and site-based work.
  • Payment rate: £28.73 PAYE or £39.50 Umbrella.
