Reporter, Dow Jones Newswires
Dow Jones seeks a candidate to join its team of smart and versatile EMEA reporters who fuel its real-time news and analysis service for financial professionals.
As part of the EMEA team, reporters monitor press releases, websites, and other news sources and fire off headlines and short stories on key developments for publication in real time. They are proficient at identifying important, forward-looking detail from a fast-moving stream of information and turning it into informative, punchy headlines and short articles in English.
A major part of the role is to quickly analyze news and the signals it provides to investors. This takes the initial form of short, quick-fire analysis of market-moving corporate news, followed by slightly longer-form articles and/or analysis that include more detail, and extends to more expansive and thematic items in due course.
In addition to handling market-moving news of all kinds, reporters generally assume responsibility for a sector, such as banks, drug makers, or telecommunications companies.
You will:
- Exercise exceptional news judgment to identify news of importance to professionals, with ability to efficiently prioritize and summarize into smart briefs and subsequent analysis of what the news means for investors.
- Recognize and respond to the core audiences for Dow Jones Newswires, and their needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors from other groups, including Dow Jones Newswires, WSJ, and other colleagues in other bureaus and regions.
- Communicate precisely and with compassion.
- Uphold Dow Jones standards and ethics.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
