Reporting Accountant SME

The Reporting Accountant SME provides subject matter expertise across Finance reporting, management information, regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, and financial data consumption, supporting the design, implementation, and optimisation of Northern Powergrid's Finance transformation programme.

The role acts as the primary business representative for Finance reporting requirements, ensuring that financial and operational stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and reliable information to support decision-making, governance, and compliance obligations.

Working closely with Finance, IT, Data, Regulatory Reporting, Group Reporting, Finance Services, and external implementation partners, the SME will ensure reporting requirements are translated into effective reporting solutions, data models, hierarchies, and processes across the Finance landscape.

The role will support the implementation of Oracle Fusion, FCC, and EPM reporting capabilities, ensuring reporting outputs support operational, management, statutory, regulatory, and parent company reporting needs.

The SME is empowered to make day-to-day programme decisions relating to reporting requirements, data structures, reporting hierarchies, definitions, testing, and report design within agreed governance frameworks and will work collaboratively with other SMEs to ensure a single, trusted source of financial information across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the programme Subject Matter Expert for Finance reporting and data consumption requirements.
  • Define, document, and validate reporting requirements across Finance and wider business functions.
  • Represent reporting requirements within design workshops, conferences, and solution walkthroughs.
  • Make functional decisions relating to reporting structures, hierarchies, dimensions, metadata, and reporting outputs.
  • Collaborate with AP, AR, GL, Treasury, Projects, Group Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, and Data SMEs to ensure reporting requirements are addressed across end-to-end processes.
  • Define and validate reporting catalogues, report inventories, and reporting governance standards.
  • Support the design and validation of management, operational, and financial reporting outputs.
  • Support creation and optimisation of statutory and regulatory reporting capabilities.
  • Define reporting acceptance criteria and support SIT, UAT, and business validation activities.
  • Support data migration, reconciliation, and validation activities affecting reporting outputs.
  • Establish reporting controls, reconciliations, and data quality checks.
  • Support user training, reporting adoption, and business readiness activities.
  • Identify opportunities for reporting automation, simplification, and standardisation.
  • Ensure reporting solutions support future business growth and regulatory requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
